Just got back, head a bit sunburnt, was too busy fishing to remember to put the hat on for a while......It was Sunny We bought bait in Winnies Worms at Valley and they gave us various advice on where to fish Top Shop We went to a small bay near Treadurr which Neil will know the name of but its near mackerel rock There were mackerel about Neil only fished for a short while as his better half got sea sick and he had to take her back, he got a mackerel, a codling and a dogfish I fished on and had a great time. I had six species in all, not including mackerel or codling so that was eight species between us! They were all pretty small apart from a nice pollack which I kept. Mackerel strip on the bottom meant fairly instant dogfish, I lost count of those but it was a lot, I was hanging on for a ray, no luck Baited sabikis were the most productive accounting for all bar the doggies The water runs to eighty feet deep and even real close in to the rocks was thirty ish The tide was well manageable and the wind just light. Sea state was just nice too, just lively enough to make it interesting. There were lots of rock anglers and a few small boats I took some photos but I've no hope of putting them on here! Gonna ache tomorrow, but enjoyed it and will go again
The species; plaice dogfish wrasse pouting whiting pollack

Well done Martin,
It sounds like you were at Porth Dafarch, love it there. Glad you got a few fish. There is a wreck in the bay which is a good bet for a conger. Nice to hear there's a few mackerel showing.

You can't buy happiness. But you can buy fishing gear. It's kind of the same thing.

I've got to go in my micra(no roof rack). So I won't be able to transport my kayak around the island. I will how ever be able to launch from the site (penryne bay, sandy beach). I hope the wind don't blow. Gaz

Too windy at church bay on Saturday day, but I did manage to get from the site on Saturday evening for an hour or so to try out my drogue. I used mini sabiki rigs and managed a few mackerel ( the first I've caught around penrhyn bay for a couple of years) and a few pollock. A nice evening and I got used to a drogue. Gaz
