I met up with Martin last night after work to make the most of the fine weather. Target species where Smoothies, Rays and Bass.
No time was wasted in getting afloat, paddling out there Martin trailed behind just to admire my Tempo and how effortless it is to paddle, you'll have yours soon enough A mile or so out we found our mark, anchors down and I managed two casts which bought a small huss and a Dablet to the kayak.
The wind swung us round almost 90 degrees and blew us right off the mark. I swiftly made the decision to up anchor and relocate putting myself back on the big X that screams fish. I really can't emphasize enough how important it is to fish where the fish are going to be. We pay so much for technology to locate rough ground, gulleys etc but I see so often people misjudging there anchoring or the wind blows them round and they just make do and these very people moan about blanking. Martin was going to stick it out
First cast back on mark and a few minutes later I held a smoothie a loft for martin to see. No further time was wasted and he made his way over, in the meantime I took another smoothie and a ray.
Things went quiet for about a hour but they came back as quick as they went and Martin soon had his first ever thornback ray flapping round on his yak followed by his first ever smooth hound, unfortunately the pictures didn't turn out very well so your left with a blur :/
I was caught over 10 smoothies which isn't bad going, not sure how many Martin managed. Some of my better ones;
