The plan was to fish the flood and then an hour or two after high. It started off a nice morning to be afloat, t-shirt weather and all, the smoothies where playing ball too and there wasn't a dogfish in sight, well there was one, it wouldn't be a fishing session if there wasn't. However as forecast, dark clouds assembled behind me so the cag was donned and we waited for the imminent down pours. They where heavy but intermittent. We carried on non the wiser and as Gary unhooked a smoothie he tossed his rig over the side while sorting his camera, smoothie returned and time to rebait, only he'd snared a mackerel :lol: I've never targeted mackerel on the yak as the scales get everywhere but I stuck a set of hokkais on my spinning rod and if anything it would give me something to do between bites. I managed a few mackerel but it was Gary who stole the show I swear every time I looked round he was dealing with a full string :lol: They where just beneath the surface aswel... wish I had my fly rod Between the masses of smoothies and mackerel we both found time to land a brace of our target species, Bass 8) We both ended up with 20 odd smoothies each, a few bass for the pot and plenty of mackerel for next weeks tope hunt, not a bad days fishing if you ask me;

You can't buy happiness. But you can buy fishing gear. It's kind of the same thing.

Nice one Shaun. I was on the north side of the island, too bloody windy to get out. I was in the wrong car( no roof rack) so I couldn't travel. Gaz
