Most people who live near or on the coast have a fair to good knowledge of the sea.......and what its capable of... People living inland unfortunately don't.......the RYA (or other governed and recognized associations) run sea kayaking/canoeing courses at their centers which takes them through the do's and dont's. What safety equipment required etc....then they plan a journey or passage as if for real.....but under guidance of experienced qualified instructors.. Im lucky to have been brought up surrounded by the sea and consider myself very fortunate.......as iv'e seen many stupid mistakes by holiday makers and visitors even some locals over the years the list is endless and having witnessed one fatality....awful. There was nothing i could do,the RNLI arrived within minutes but it was too late...... The sea is very inviting.....beautiful...fun....exiting...tranquil....peaceful...picturesque......but when it goes wrong......it takes no prisoners..... Even experienced guys can get into difficulty, and have........but they train and practice for it.........its called a plan B.... Prepare for the worst,so if and when it happens you aim to survive longer than 3 minutes..........'cos that's all the time you could have....if you don't. The fatality list is shocking.......one fatality is one too many.... And the devastating news for the Family, relatives and friends, which many never come to terms with....

I believe another two kayakers off the coast of Anglesey were injured today........... One on the North side and other on the South side... Don't think they were fishing, but in sit in kayaks.............. Hope their injuries weren't life threatening............
