Went up to Ullswater mid week hoping the perch had come out of the deep water. Early signs didn't look good still snow on top of the hills. Fished 4 marks that normally produce good fish but nothing. When for a paddle around the lake trolling a little S. Had six Brownie's up to about a 1lb.lovley looking trout most of them didn't have any colour in there spots just black spots. Does anyone know why?

Well done on the trout Pike, I have flyfished there and found the same , the wild trout of Ullswater that I have caught don't have red spots , just the genetics of that particular variety I think - lovely strong fish though ! Have you had any decent size perch there ? I will be going in 2 or 3 weeks time, Love Ullswater it is a special place.

Didn't know that the Perch go that big in Ullswater, might have a go when I'm there for the trout. I know that Bassenthwaite produces some big perch though, and some good size Pike too. I'm not sure what the situ is about getting a fishing yak on there. Good luck to you - when time allows
