Decided on giving rock channel a go this morning, paddled out in my kayak at around 6:30am, headed out along the bank and then out a bit, probably sitting 200 yards off the bank itself. First drop i had a couple of rattles and missed it, by this point i had two rods out and no sooner had i baited the first one up again my second rod hammered around, i hooked this one, and it put up a great fight on a little spinning rod... even if it was only about 3 - 4lb. Back down again and it was quiet for an hour apart from a couple of dabs and dogs, i decided on a move so i upped anchor and paddled about another hundred or so yards out and dropped it down again. Within seconds i was in and it was a better fish, after a struggle it was on board, it was then i noticed my other rod had gone slack and as i put it down to my first fish going through the line it hammered over and i had another hound on, this too was soon brought aboard, i had one around the 4-5lb mark and another around the 7-8lb mark .... I dropped down one rod from now on as i had learnt my lesson, and straight away i was in... smaller but a nice fight all the same. I then had a couple of out of season codling, before i had a screaming run which resulted in the best fish of the day which was around the double figure mark.... I decided on one last cast and i managed to snare a small thorny! Which completed the session for me, awesome morning with 5 hounds, a small thorny two codling and numerous dabs and dogs.
