Eagle fish finder cost £70. Trimmed the transducer end (bolt fixing) to fit the transducer scupper hole. Only on small hole needed in the yak to get to the battery compartment. Used a plastic screw to pot to hold cable from transducer and held in with sealant. Hope to give it a sea trial on Saturday.

Nice 1 Hughesey, still aint got a fishfinder yet beacuse ive been spending all me penny's on rods and reels at the moment. Be good to hear how you get on with it. Couple of questions, what is the board that you have attached the finder to? and also what is the plastic cup thing that is in the tranducer scupper hole?
Thanks
Rich

I made a board and attached the fishfinder mount to it. All removable. The plastic pot just holds the large amount of transducer cable out of the way.

Hi Ian
I trimmed the transducer cable down on mine don't think it affects the performance. Could not find the fish with the long cable and could not find the fish with the short cable. ;D
Some one on here might know if you can trim the cable down to get rid of the exes.
Catch you later

Yeah - trimming the cable is a good idea if someone can advise me how. Bad enough taking a drill to the yak let alone cutting cables.

unfortunately trimming the cable will decay the signal length and you fish finder wont work properly so don't do it Ian .

The fishfinder worked a treat when I tested it on saturday. Very happy with it.

worth remembering to mount your compass as far away from your electrics as possible
