Just thought, with everyone buying VHFs etc which nowadays run on Li-ions. Battery life is something we all like to get the best out of.
I was given some tips on making your Li batteries last much much longer (this goes for phones, cameras...anything)
The old fashioned batteries liked to be run down and charged up again in order to get best life from them. Li batteries like EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE. They do not like being discharged more than 80%, and so the less you run them down between charges the longer the battery will last (not in charge time, but before it needs replacing because it will no longer hold a charge for long).
Keep Li batteries charged up - little and often. If you come in and have only used your VHF for an hour or so, and the battery strength still shows full - stick it on the charger anyway, but not for long. Overcharging is as bad as undercharging.
So, in a nutshell: Don't kill 'em and don't cook 'em. Catch and release battery life in fact ;D
