Take a cork from a bottle of sparkling wine, push it in rounded end first. Fits perfectly and holds the foot securely.

I have fitted a big plastic cap on the other side of the foot hole, then put elastics through. its nice and solid and can be swung up when not in use. No way will it fall off, still functional and looks good too...........................!

a couple of mods on mine,bungee cored on the leg,none slip rubber on the pads and a ratchet on the straps.

The none slip rubber is a goodun. I think you have overcome the 3 famous problems with the C tug.

I just sanded the leg and the mating face of the trolley before glueing it in place with Araldite. Solid and still there a year later.
