Managed to get out for a paddle with Mal (Boomphat) on Saturday. We met up at Port Dinorwig and set out for a couple of hours paddling. It was just approaching high tide and the water was fairly choppy across the middle and proved to be hard work at times. Close in was a different story, relatively sheltered and quite calm, albeit with a reasonable tidal pull. Witnessed plenty of wild life and took in some eye catching views of the coast line. It was my first time paddling the Straits and I will definitely venture out there again, possibly heading further up towards the bridge, conditions permitting. I am looking forward to fishing here too I think it could be quite productive in places. We paddled up to the stately home and entered what appeared to be an underground boat launch with a series of caverns and port holes. The paddle back to the launch site proved hard going (for me any way : the wind had picked up considerably by now and the water was as lumpy as hell across the middle, but it was good fun 'surfing' non the less. When we arrived back at the launch site Mal offered me a try of his yak and dare I say it I could well become a Scupper Pro convert in the future ;D All in all it was an enjoyable couple of hours paddling and in great company as well, thanks again Mal.

Great report and some good piicy's Jim. Those port holes look as though they could have been victorian sewers.

We launched from Moel y don yesterday and found your tunnel, not at all where I expected! We also paddled round the flooded quarry and the Port Dinorwic marina. Sadly we don't have a waterproof camera. Thanks for the pics, it is always nice to have somewhere intersting to visit.
