Headed down to Towyn Friday night - parked up by the bridge & headed down to beach for rest of evening. Doggies and a school bass to ragworm.
Launched at about 10.30 & headed over to the reef. After about an hour with not even a doggie bite I was about to move...When the reel started screaming - I was in!!
After much tussling, it had managed to get around the anchor, but I managed to get it to tow me back the other way....the fun bit was trying to unhook it with no pliers oops I'd left mine at home (not reccommended btw! ) Think it was about 35lb ish (?)a pb
This was followed by a strap conger - had me wondering on the way up what it was...
Then Tope number two came up slightly smaller than the first - better picture though ;D
Headed back in to target the bass - they happily obliged (had about 8-9 to 3lb) coming mostly to my new surface popper friend ;D
Also some to a rapala.
Headed home around dusk,
launched back out at 4.30am - fantastic weather - really calm..
Thought it would be slow with it being so calm - but had more frantic action on the surface and below, again had around 8 or 9.
Had a number of takes when the plug was just hanging in the current, weirdest one was with the surface popper cast out, I put the rod down to have a pee, only to be caught literally with me kegs down ;D That was when it was flat calm, not a breath of wind (apart from myself that is) the plug wasn't moving at all.
Another was when the rapala was dangling at the end of the rod just touching the surface, nearly dropped me sandwich
Also had some fun when a gar fish took the rapala, didn't get him to the yak though...
Great watching the salmon leaping 6ft+ straight up, in the distance.
All in all great weekend! ;D
(Oh and me new Crazy Creek III seat is fab! )
