That was the view ahead just before I turned back, I didn't want to get stuck in the mud at Borth, I nearly did anyway!

Talking of the sandbanks...it always made me laugh when you saw Patrick Magoohan(??) stuck in the Prisoner. He should have waited for low tide and he could have walked from Port Meirion right round to Black Rock sands.
Mind you Boom I guess if you miss time the paddle you would have a very long walk back to the Glaslyn channel but at least the banks are supposed to be solid, no quick sand like you can get on some of the sandspites on the Dovey estuary.
I read on one site that it is a great evening paddle down the Glaslyn from just below Beddgelert to Portmadog. Do it over the next few months and there would be a chance of seeing the Ospreys too.

Whats the flatty fishing like there? Enough flounders to try for them with a fly?

Borth-y-Gest can be fished at any state of the tide but is generally best 2 hrs either side of high water. The Powder House at Black Rock Sands is best fished 2hrs either side of low water. Each season bass to double figures are taken from the estuary. Species:- Summer - bass, flatfish, mullet and silver eels. Winter - flounder in the estuary with whiting and dogfish off the Powder House.
From Anglingwales.co.uk the web site of Companion Tackle and Baits in Criccieth. They are very helpful with local info.

Thank you - bass are evrywhere, it is the flounders that are elusive - must be 6 or 7 years since I caught one! Not so far to travel as the Cumbria estuaries to have a wade and a fling with the fly!

Hi Dorado. Fished LOW TIDE at arnside in the autumn with spinners and fly from the shore and well outfished the worm lads. Flounder to 2lb. Good sport well worth a try if you get up there. If you do it in the yak make sure its a small tide, hardly any tide movement. Big tide+ big boar, very fast water up to high tide. When you hear the siren call it a draw. Steve
