I' looking cold because I fell in! As you can see from the photos it was pretty heavy surf. I though I would just let the waves gently push me in while I looked around and cooly step out into 2 inches of water . Disaster struck when I got caught by a monster 8 inch tsunami wave. I don't know whether the bow stuck in the sand or whether it was just the leverage between backwash at the front and the wave at the stern but I got tipped into 8 inches of water. A complete and utter embarrasment.
Lost my anchor as well because by the time I realised it was gone it was 20 minutes later and the tide had come in . Just shows that you need to clip everything down when you come in.
Fishing was great. I caught nothing for the first hour probably because I was anchored over a rock patch. Meanwhile everyone else was running out of bait! Moved on and it was a bite within every 30 seconds of the bait hitting bottom.
Anyone going back there this week may find an anchor at low tide, just down from the first roundabout into town.
Thanks for the fishing advice lads, the whiting tasted great.
Ian

After a one and half hr drive in the pooring rain things wernt looking to good-we did notice that there was no wind at all all the way down >until we hit wales<,after arriving we all got together with a cuppa had chat for a while (nice to see the lads again) as we were waiting for the wind to drop, the rain stopped after about a hr. we decided to head out,we paddled out just before the point of the big orme, we anchored up and started catching whitting streight away, after about a hr of none stop whitting i decided to put a big bait out to try for coddling with the result of dab trying to take a full squid the surprise i had when bringing it in as the hook was bigger than the fish ,i stook with it for about another hr but only whitting,we then decided to go a little further out fishing in line of the the big orme and little orme in line with a charter boat that had been there since before we even parked up,this resulted at least one whitting every 10-15 seconds of the bait hitting the botton left anylonger and the bait was stripped. it wasn’t long before we were running out of bait the whitting must have covered the sea bottom no matter what you put on your hook they took it-dave was pulling them up one after another on rubber sand eel . . We all paddled back together not sure but think it took us about half hr for another brew before heading home. we all had a fantastic day with thanks to dave for sorting the day out and cant wait to get out again. sorry didnt get chance to take more pics as we were to busy

Hi wmj1960
First of all welcome to the site mate. I'm sure you will find a lot of very good advise from the guys. You mentioned the manta ray. It is a very nice kayak. In fact I have one. We have a few of these on the site. I am sure one or two of the other guys will give you their opinions., but I really rate the Manta Ray, and would say that its probably one of the best kayaks available at the moment. We have a meet next week, why not come down, I'm sure one of the lads will let you try out a manta ray. By the way I would recommend the 12 footer.
