Well yesterday I went out fishing in my own yak for the first time with Kevin (Hatter3) At LLandulas. What an eye opener After reading all the information I could lay my hands on, I thought I had it sussed out, but O noooooooo couldn't have been further from the truth. Now ordinarily I am quit an organized guy, but last night proved that wrong. I had my thermal socks on, dry suit, and my pfd, tackle rods and bait, So lets go. as we were paddling out it occurred to me that I had no anchor, how was I going to fish, Kev lashed a line up for me. great, lets get fishing, then it started to rain very heavy, up came the wind and the sea. It was wind across tide which spun us across the waves. Then I realized that I had no leashes!!! :-[There was no way we could fish under these conditions. So we abandoned the fishing, thanks to me (Sorry Kev) What we did though was to have a paddle in some pretty rough conditions. Remember this is all new to me, a couple of times, I got that gut feeling that says I'm going swimming, but soon overcome this, by finding my balance, and using the paddle. After a while I was thoroughly enjoying myself. Great fun. And after tonights experience, I must get better organized.

I've enjoyed paddling in the rough stuff. I made a budget paddle leash out of a dog lead, piece of elastic and a dufflecoat toggle, cost me £1 does the same job

I think that is a bit like most of our early outings. I have managed to forget weights, bait and even reels ! though not on the same trip ! At first I also took out too much kit - most of my beach fishing swag ! Imagine the tangles I got into. I think it is best to start off simple, 1 rod only and then build it up to 2 rods.
I got so cheesed off with forgetting stuff I even made a wee check list - sounds daft, but it is a big help now.
