Launched from Conwy Beacons this morning, 20 minutes before high tide. It was cold and windier than I had hoped. Paddling up the river, the water was quite choppy and the wind was in my face. I wasn't impressed with my Palm paddling gloves, as the wet fingers felt cold already.

I got under the 3 bridges ok, so then I slogged it for 1 hour 40 mins without stopping, until I came to the Tal Y Cafn bridge (6 miles). As I progressed up the river the wind dropped, the water calmed, and I felt warm from the exertion. Tal Y Cafn village looked lovely.

I drifted back taking photos, the east bank was frosty.

Calm water is my favourite.

Took me just over 3 hours, and at 12 miles, is my biggest single paddle to date.

Nice one Mal and great pics as usual. Full of cold here so no paddle for me today. That cold wind was bad enough in garden today without being out on the water! I use some cheap (£5) Lidl neoprene sailing gloves when its really cold and they kept my hands warm last winter.

My arms were hurting last night though! How far up are you allowed to paddle?
