Sadly the boating on Chelmarsh is strictly limited to the on site sailing club only I'd love the chance to get the kayak on there even just for a paddle, but seems unlikely. Rob.

Hi Just to introduce myself , My name is Richie am from Higher Bebington, Wirral. I have tried Fly fishing, sea and some Pike fishing on the river Dee and Lymm Dam. I am just starting out in kayak fishing, and have got my first Kayak arriving on Monday. If there are any members close by that would like to meet and share advice and help then that would be very much appreciated, and maybe even a trip out on the Dee??
Thanks, Richie.

Welcome Richie. There are a few lads around your area, I am sure they will be along soon. What kayak have you gone for? Terry

Hi all. my name is Kev, from Manchester, I have recently purchased a used prowler 13 ( old style ) and today I have completed the vhf src course. I have been gathering all the bits and bobs to rig my yak, I have yet to purchase a radio, trolley, wet suit and pfd, not been out on the water yet, I am just getting kitted out over winter so that I will be ready for april / may. I can't wait to get out there to catch whatever comes along. be safe all ! Kev.

If you have the budget get a dry suit instead of a wet suit , makes a massive difference and makes kayak fishing so much more enjoyable - and safer , look out for a good second hand suit they are well worth it. That's the only problem with this sport , it's so addictive and the spending can go on and on Good luck , maybe see you on the water sometime Phil

Hi Phil, I must have been tired when I posted ! I did mean a drysuit, I wouldn't consider using a wet suit until the water temp warms up. I have been glued to my laptop for months on end gathering all kinds of info, the general consensus is to wear a drysuit, I am popping over to Manchester canoes today to weigh-up the pfd and drysuit options, I am on a shoestring budget but what price do you put on safety. still got loads to sort out, my next job is to sort out ( make ) an 'easy load' roof bar set up. thanks for your reply, roll on April ! Regards, Kev.

Hi Kev That's great , I need to upgrade my PFD and paddle , so might have a quick nip out to Manchester Canoes myself soon. My funds are limited ( too many other interests ! ) so will be looking out for offers or second hand ! This is how I load my yak , so simple and very easy , I just slip a metal bar into the roof rack bar - cost nothing , goes in the boot. You only lift one end of the yak at a time so not heavy or difficult. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjDHxgA2BJI Cheers Phil

Hi all, having read various post on various websites, I decided to take time and check all the rod holders and hatches were sealed properly.....
Oh dear... what a let down. All required re-sealing. The surfaces were not prepped properly and there was very little sealant on all of them, and what was there just pealed straight off. I will be keeping an eye on these..
