Hi, This is my first post on NWKF. Good site with lost of experience and valuable information.
Just been up in Windermere pike fishing from my kayak. Stayed in Ambleside YHA, very comfortable , big breakfast and loads of beer. Kayaked 6.5 miles the first day and 4 on the second. I caught 1 pike and my father on law caught a couple. Not much in size, about 10lb was the biggest. It was freezing!!!! I could not feel my feet when I got off.
Dose any one else kayak fish for pike? Where do you go? I have tried Bala last year. It is so big I don't know where to start. Any ideas?
I know Windermere pretty well if any one wants an info on where to try.
Rgds

Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply. Try the boats in the south end of the lake. Last time we were there I got hit on a 8" fox replacant bouncing bottom on retrival. I thought I had snagged a boat mooring until it pulled back. Crapped myself!! Must of been a big fish. The hooks didnt dig in. My fault for not side striking. Also try the side by the steam train in about 10 foot of water. we have got loads from there in the past.
We are neighbours. I'm in Parkgate.

I fished Coniston quite a few times last year and found the most productive areas to be between the boats at the South end of the lake or just North of Coniston Hall campsite where the boats moor . A good paddle between the 2 marks of 2 1/2 to 3 miles.

there are more pike yakkers than u think,There is a lake on anglesey that i yak a bit especially if it is to rough for the sea.i have caught every time out here, last out there two weeks ago, only seem to catch the jacks so far although they do go big in here.not as big as bala, and you have to be carefull not to upset bank anglers by going in to close, available for the price of a day ticket, maelog is the name,by rhosniegr. PS. For this top venue,I will expect pm,s detailing top secret bass marks for coming season ;D

Hi tony If you`re only going to be fishing fresh water for Pike from your Kayak then The Prowler T11 is a cracking little Kayak. If you wanted something a little bigger then the T13 or Prowler 13 are both excellant boats. If you keep an eye on the forum for up comming meets it might be a good Idea to go along and have a look how everyone is rigged up. I`m sure any keen Kayak angler (myself included) would be more than willing to give you a run down on how to set up!

Tony, There are a few of us on the Wirral who go pike fishing. When the season is open there are a couple of stretches on the River Dee in Chester. The pike fishing is great there. Very strong fish, loads of tail walking. Have a look at the River Dee reports on the forum. Since my first post I have met and enjoyed a couple of days out. These are valuable meetings to gain experience with kayaking from all the experienced lads and lasses from this site. Have you got a kayak yet?
