Off to Criccieth at the end of the week and hoping to get as much kayak and beach fishing in as possible, depending on what the rest of the family want to do I fancy the rough ground to the west of the castle, the near shore reefs off "Butlins" as well as Pwllheli, Trefor and Nefyn. So keep an eye out for a Blue Malibu 2 and 2 yellow Kea's, as well as a red Canadian canoe. It will be good to try out my new toys, well hopefully I won't need to use them - VHF, flares, compass etc. Mark

I'm not too sure ! I put a question on World Sea Fishing site, about access through Butlins, but I haven't checked for an answer yet. I think there may be a camp site to the East, a quick drag of the yak through the dunes and I hope to be pretty close. Failing that, paddle 4 miles from Pwllheli or Criccieth !

I can't see Butlin's (isn't it Haven now?) letting you through. At Criccieth theres steep steps leading down to the beach, I wouldn't want to carry a yak up or down them! Pwllheli is probably your best access as there are free car parks at the shore and the water is close by.
