I have bought the kayak group recommended handheld VHF, but can't understand how to adjust the squelch. I'm probably being thick, but the manual didn't help much either. The Hummingbird on my Warrior is easy to set. Can anyone take pity and give me an easy to understand way of doing it?
Thanks
Steve

I am away at the moment and also found it hard to set 1st time. I think I read and then re-read the instructions and then started again and it worked fine, maybe the wording is a bit confusing.

Adjusting the squelch on the icom-1cm71
On the side of the radio there are 2 grey buttons the big one for transmitting if you press it you can talk to someone else and they will gear you . below that grey button on the side is a much smaller push button its oval also in grey .
Press this small button once then remove your finger from it this turns squelch mode on do not press and hold it just a quick press and realise then with the up and down arrow keys on the front of the unit (blue triangles )adjust your squelch you can set it from 0 to 5. .2 is about right for most uses once you have set it you should press the little button on the side again just a quick press and realise this takes your radio out of squelch set up position .
to test your squelch With the radio turned on and volume up press and hold the little button down and after about a 1 second delay you will hear all the static you have squelched out while you can hear all the noise adjust the volume on your radio ( knob at the top) then just realise the little side button to return your radio working mode
