LIFE- What a super programme last night with David attenborough! About preditors and prey. Particularly amazed at the orcas going for the seals in shallow water. The seal pups were comic swiming upside down checking out the underwater camera man and checking out what they were up to on land. Crumbs kind of makes me slightly more weary of them if I ever see one again on the kayak. LOL, I don't mean see an orce on a kayak but next time I see an orca while I'm on the kayak. ;D ;D

Do you see many around your area Chris. What else do you see being that far north?

Hi Mate, yes we get orcas up here but not that easy to locate. Spotted one a few months ago while out on the kayak. I heard it blowing before I saw it. What a sight. Massive!!! My first reaction was to paddle up to it as quickly as I could to get a closer look but it was off. Apparently they are perfectly safe as long as you don't look too much like a seal. We also get Basking sharks here also but yet to see one of those. If I ever do I'l have my camera so will take some videos/photos. Also Minke whales are quite common up here too. Porpeagle sharks come up but don't tend to show them selves.

Off of the west coast of Angelsey we get quite a few dolphins, and porpoise, and a short while ago we had a stranded pilot wale on one of the beached which died. I did manage to get within a 100 yards or so of the dolphins, but they move so fast away from you.

Shame about the whale. Dolphins are fansatic to watch. Never seen them up here but we get loads on the Moray firth which is where I used to live. Never forget watching them chase the salmon making them leap out of the water.

I envy you guy's that live on or near the coast it must be great to get the yak out on the spur of the moment or walk the dog along the beach especially you Chris up Thurso I bet its wild up there. That's somewhere remote I would like to move to when the last of my kids fly the nest, mind you there would have to be a couple of pubs to keep me going. ;D ;D ;D

Lol, plenty of pubs here mate but unfortunately we get plenty of wind too. Had so many cancellations now because of the weather. Seems everytime the weather is perfect I'm working or looking after the kids while the misses is out horse riding.
