Last Wednesday I spent the day down by Rhyl harbour with my metal detector, when I spotted 4 Snow Buntings. These birds would have flown all the way from Russia, and are about to make the return journey anytime now. That was a new tick for me.

I am amazed that they showed up with the metal detector Steve, had they been ringed?
Good spot mate.

Seen a pair of short eared owls hunting a snipe bog in Anglsey last year, nice to watch as they systematically quartered the ground hunting as a pair. While spinning in Aberdarron i seen a peregrine take a stock dove on the wing !. Nothing to do with fishing, but nice to see other hunters at work . All be it more successfully than me.
