blow me, I've been burning the midnight oil for the last week or two designing and building my latest toy! Basically I wanted a combi-box. A dry box/crate for everyday use on the yak and within a minute or two it's transformed into a livewell. Tall order?... yup Anyway, lots of details on my blog ( saltwateryakfisherman.blogspot.com/) but here's a few photos. Rigged as a drybox... Fitted as a drybox... Fitted as a livewell... The plumbing bits... The brain....... Just operate this....... Lightweight, strong as ya like... love it. No, I aint making any more ;D

Hi Rob, there are a lot of very creative and clever people on here, that bit of kit looks the perfect size for your yak. Good job Mate. ATB. Reeco

Brilliant concept Rob! Very well done indeed that.
One point I wondered about was how much water will be in the container as a livewell?
In the event of a capsize would this make flipping the kayak over an issue or is there not enough water to cause a problem?

Good question, and I'm probably going to have to take a trip to the local lake to find out ;D
Whether it'd have to have the large lid removed prior to righting to allow rapid draining as it's turned over, or whether it can be righted containing water is unknown. It can hold anything up to 7 gallon, the lower level takes almost four gallon.
The yanks have been paddling around with these things for years, I'll have a look around some of their forums to see what's mentioned on there. Worse case scenario, it'd be unclipped in the water, or cut off, and retrieved later.
