I have just brought Jim Krawiecki and Andy Biggs' Welsh Sea Kayaking. What an excellent book this is.
Now I have my sink I am seriously considering having a go at at least one or two of the trips.
The first I am planning is for my July break at Aberdaron. Depending on tides and weather I fancy a try at the Trefor to Dinllaen paddle. At 12km ( about 7.5 miles ) it seems reasonable and if I use the tidestream as it flows SE for up to 6 hours that should help. I am estimating that with sightseeing about 3 1/2 hours should see it done. It would be a very picturesque trip for the first half and then a nice paddle round by Nefyn and over to Ty Coch for a little light refreshment and meet the family ;D
Has anyone tried this trip and would you have any advice or cautionary words?
Thanks Terry

Hope you manage to get this trip in Terry, it's quite spectacular at the base of the cliffs. You do need to be sure of the forecast as the wind can make it a hard trip if in your face all the time. I went to Nefyn last weekend and parked in the NT car park, and walked over the golf course to the pub, keeping an eye out for your Easky, but there wasn't anyone out on the water as it was very windy. When we got back there was a Black Honda CRV with a Prowler on and another car with 2 sea kayaks, I never got on the water that weekend unfortunately, Mike

Mike, wife and I did Dinllaen/Morfa Nefyn 1st Sunday there and had a tipple in Ty Coch. We then did the sea caves at east end of Aberdaron Bay. Did not get to do trip, tides were not quit right and then the winds were all over the place. Especially on the Thursday night...wow!!! Even the locals said it was bad 84mph and when I looked out the lounge window the wave were come strait over the sea wall onto our cottages and my car and yaks. Being black the car sparkled with the dried salt water next morning. The flood water coloured the bay and then the rains the following monday did it again.
Not the best fortnight but I have converted the missus to yakking. She did a lap of llyn Padarn (5 miles) last week but she found my spare aluminium paddle too heavy so I had to buy her a new one.....Surflines gave me 10% when I mentioned NWKF.
