Hi folks
Just invested in a new fishing kayak (Manta Ray Angler 12) and looking for some advice re. rod leashes.
Any recommendations on best leashes ....... and also any UK retailers where I might be able to buy from.
Many thanks.
Andy

I use an old nylon dog lead, adjustable loop one end and a clip fitted the other. i have used it for about 2 years with no sign of wear and it is very light compared with the coiled ones. Steve

How about this for a very inexpensive rod (or for any equipment) leash. I bought a long curly phone extension from one of the pound shops and a few clips from Ebay. Just cut to the size needed and secure with small nylon ties. There was enough to make several leashes of varying lengths and they are very strong.

Yup, very similar to mine but be careful with those clips mate. Used something very similar a while back and they are ok for light use but tend to pop open under pressure. I couldn't believe it when it happened as they seem pretty sturdy.
Just a thought.

I too use the homemade phone cord leashes. I've found them to work great for paddle leashes as well. Great way to save some money and recycle old electrical refuse that would otherwise be thrown out.

Go find some surfers, they always have an old leash in their vans, work a treat as paddle leashes, that's what I use, they don't want them any more if they have stretched.

Hi all.... I've just got a couple of mobile phone chargers that you use in the car cut the ends of, double them over and add a s/s clip. I got them form a car boot sale 50p each. Some are better than others \Nice and cheap, ideal for pliers etc. Bob
