A good pfd knife is vital it need not to be a big knife a short one is better .it needs to be a permanent blade knife not a folding one so that if you get in a tangle underwater or you need to cut your anchor rope quickly then you can quickly deploy your knife and cut yourself free its no good having to root in a pocket for it and then pull open a blade that would take to long it needs to be at hand attached to you preferably your pfd and of course be sharp [glow=red,2,300]This review is also on the main website north wales kayak fishing [/glow] northwaleskayakfishing.co.uk/id43.html

When choosing a knife it is important that it is a one sided blade preferrably blunt tipped, have read several articles with people that have actually perished due to cutting an artery with a double sided blade when removing a tangled rope from their limbs, also others that have stabbed themselves or been stabbed by an over eager rescuer. I use a Gerber River Shorty, and carry it on my PFD. SM
