know I am probably going over ground that has already been covered but I haven't seen it befor and I guess that means others may not have either, so here goes.....

A very interesting scheme where you register you boat and details with your local coastguard ...hang on they describe it better.....

YOUR SAFETY FIRST

If you are at sea and get into difficulty and you are unable to raise assistance, is there anyone ashore who knows what to do if you fail to return at your estimated time?

Would a friend or relative know who to contact? Would they have sufficient detail about your vessel and your likely whereabouts to be able to assist the Coastguard to locate you?

Would it not be a comfort to know that when you set out, the Coastguard has the details of your vessel on a database that is accessible to all Coastguard Co-ordination Centres throughout the UK so that they have the information they need to mount a search and rescue operation should you get into difficulty?

SO WHAT CAN I DO?

Quite simply, join HM Coastguard's CG66 Voluntary Safety Identification Scheme. You can join online, or download the form and send it to your nearest Coastguard Co-ordination Centre. Forms can also be obtained from any Coastguard Co-ordination Centre or Sector Base, MCA Marine Office, RNLI boathouse; or look out for them in your Local Marina or Sailing Club.

The scheme is free and is for the benefit of the owners and skippers of all types of leisure vessels and small craft.

It's a totally free scheme and is just a continuation of the responsible behaviour you guys are promoting.

thanks for reminding us izzetafox everybody should complete a cg66 it takes 5 Min's to do on line and is completely free don't forget if your details change update your cg66 so for those of us that have already completed the cg66 some time ago and changed their kayaks you need to update your cg66 the link it above but its also on the main website on the home page and links page it is important so please get it done .

Loads of jobs but the work is a grueller, it's hard raising enough funds to pay Gary Lineker to do your ads.
Seriously though... I sit at a bank of 5 PC's, 6 monitors covering 34 cameras. I oversee 4km of conveyors, 20 narrow aisle cranes in 3 warhouses containing 33,ooo pallets of crisps and porridge.
My gaffer does not have a clue what I do, the old adage ' Bullsh%t baffles brains' comes to mind.
BTW no SHE does use kayaks there would be no where to plug the hair straighteners in.
