Hi, given that I feel more comfortable fishing from the left had side of my kayak. Is there any better side to place my anchor trolley?
Thanks

I fish down the right and have the trolley on the left but I think others prefer the other way round. Not sure if there is a right or wrong more a case of what feels right.

Hi. What a good question. I fit mine to the RIGHT. I am right handed so pulling the anchor rope up with my strongest arm seems the right way for me. I also fish to my LEFT as i find this easier and keeps the line away from the anchor rope. (I also have a couple of left hand wind multiplyers for the Kayak) Left hand reels come from mu course days with fixed spool reels. Never gave much thought as to why before but i guess it comes down to being left or right handed as to what side you use.
A quick test. put your anchor down the garden (without the spikes out) ;D drag it back to your right hand side Then do the same to your left. This will simulate being in your kayak. The side you find the easiest is the way to go.
One other thing to take into account is re entry if you fall in. You dont want to be snagging yourself on trolley fittings so make sure they are safely fit out of the way.
Will be interesting to see why others do it differently so keep the replies comeing in. Steve.

Hmmm, i fish either side but have the anchor on the right and i am right handed. My main reason however is that i enter the kayak on the right, my paddle is on the left whilst fishing so my clearest side for re entry is the right as well as being most natural for me. I bought my BG with the rudder and anchor trolley already on but not on the side i wanted so i have changed both, the rudder was a problem and now has 2 pulleys in order to allow it to run down the left side ( wrong side ). My god, this topic gives rise to a complex debate because i guess we all have our own way of viewing the subject. Phil

You will always find it easier to re enter from one side rather than the other but you wont always fall in on the easy uncluttered side. Steve
