Well, I reckon I am a bit of an expert on cool boxes now. I spent years doing DIY mods on existing cool boxes to try to make them more efficient. I tried coolers from Igloo and Coleman and I went down the route of thermo-electric coolers - but they are just not good enough - especially when the ambiant temperature is high in summer in the boot of a car. Anyone who has tried to keep bait frozen whilst on an extended trip eg. camping or Tywyn will know how difficult it is. So last year, I purchased a Yeti Tundra - a great bit of kit - which did the job. dizzybigfish.co.uk/yeti-the-ultimate-coolbox/The company I bought it from contacted me to tell me about a new cool box which they have designed themselves - it is also manufactured in the UK. It is expensive - but it does the business - and if you really need something which will keep bait frozen for 3 or 4 days (if packed properly with ice blocks), then it could be for you... And its available in yellow ;D More info/pictures on website... dizzybigfish.co.uk/nomad-cool-box-review/

2-3 days thats impressive. Look to be well built but they price makes them a specialist piece of kit. Out of my range I am afraid. For those with fatter wallets than mine here is one seller, but search around before buying, there may be deals. www.motorcaravanning.co.uk/shopuk/yeti_cool.htm#BuyA great review though Dizzy and again a pleasure to visit your blog, as professional as ever. Zebra - the locking mechanism looks pretty secure - there is a deep recess in the rubber latch which fits over the plastic hook - I can't see it coming apart - even if you knocked it over (I just tried !) - I suppose the rubber might stretch after a few years - time will tell.
I suspect you are right about the black things on the inside of the lid - probably where they inject the insulating foam. They had alot of different sized models on their stall at the Bath and West show - including one which looked like it would fit a treat in the smaller rear tankwell of the OK Tridents (I currently put a cool bag in that gap).
Terry - you are spot on - they are very expensive, definitely a specialist item - but worth the money if you were going on an extended trip with lots of bait eg. Ireland or Norway. I made the mistake in the past of going for cheaper models - I have owned 4 or 5 now, but the Yeti and the Nomad are streets ahead of the others.
PS. That M2 cool box does look really smart - 18 litre capacity, and has a top section for drinks - I like that alot - and as you say, alot cheaper - not sure it would have as much insulation as the Nomad - but I bet its built like a tank - and if you could get one in decent nick, definitely well worth the money.
