Well, I popped down to B & Q today. Got myself a plastic spool and made myself an anchor reel. Loaded it up with 250m of 2mm braided cord, which took longer than actually making the reel. Sorted!

Looks fantastic! I need one. Where department or section in B&Q did you get the reel? I spent overan hour in one here and only found full ones where they sell various bits of rope and stuff.
Also what did you use for handles?

Noonoo, you need to look in the section where they sell rope and chain, you may well find an empty spool on the rack or ask in the shop if they have any empty spools. Phil

as philpot said - I actually emptied 2ft of chain in store and hid it behind the other reels, then found an assistant and asked if I could buy the empty spool - told me I could have it free lol
