After much thought advice and a free paddle from a mate of mine.My other half went for the fatyak Faafu. Which she fell in love with as soon as she got onto the water in it. Being 3mtrs long and quite wide it is very stable and very manoverable. It is advertised as a fishing kayak with two storage wells, well what can I say about that if you only ever take out half a dozen hooks and a 1/4/of bait you will have plenty of room. The wells are the size of breakfast bowl. saying that the tank well in the stern is of a nice size there are places to fit rod holders and a ff if needed. They also come with flush fitted rod holders (at an extera charge ). The lack of dry storage space is the biggest drawback. But at £349 with back rest and paddle it makes an ideal first kayak while you make youe mind up what exactly you need from a yak marks 8/10

Glad your wife is happy with the Kaafu mate it always helps.
As for dry storage it depends what you are looking for. Most kayaks offer only limited accessible dry storage. That's why many yakkers have a dry box/bag in the rear area under the bungees.
Regarding it's fishing capabilities.... all of the three metre range of yaks tend to be aimed at the lure angler and drifting. Having said that you will find that most guys tend to trim all their gear to a minimum event on the longer yaks. Less to lose in the surf zone I guess.
I suppose it is the old 'horses for courses'. I know if I had the spare cash for a 3rd kayak then that is probably the size I would go for just for the fun times on the water.
All you need is for her to catch a few fish now.

Point taken Terry Ali is not into the angling side of it yet so it suits her fine. i had a texsport 410FX which had a huge dry storage well in the bow so I suppose itwas abit unfair to compare it to that but all in all it does the job for Alison cant keep her off it only being 500 mtrs or so from the beach helps tight lines Tony

Tony. The thing about bow storage is that it is not easilly accessible whilst on the water, so in reality the Kaafu has a slightly larger hatch between your legs than the Teksport.
The great thing about the Kaafu I believe is the stability and the confidence that gives. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't have a play on it in the surf zone.
At the end of the dayAli is happy and you can share some great paddle time together and that is the most important thing.##Terry

Have a word with Zebra because I think he was going to fit a Mazzif hatch on his Fatyak so you could follow suit. Phil

loads of room in the kafu you need to make a couple of simple modifications to get that extra storage first . cut the bucket out of the centre hatch and front one as well like this www.northwaleskayakfishing.co.uk/id199.htmli have also fitted an internal box in the centre hatch so when you open the lid there is a huge box inside i will try get some photos sorted for you but its superb now with all the extra storage and easy to do .

Cheers lads points hoisted in. Had a look at the link the link. the mod to ther frony hatch looks simple enough (even for me) . But for the mo it is more than good enough for Ali. If she ever gets into the angling side then a few mods will be needed. Once again thanks for your input guys Tight lines Tony

I will say this about little kayaks, Gggggrrrrreeeaaatttt fun on holiday. I have two, a ocean Mysto and a Nomad and for playing in the surf----even an old tart like me, seal launch and riding the waves all be it small ones is just brilliant, makes me feel young.
They are really perfectly ok for lure work as well. I have put a RAM fitting on the Nomad and it is fine for a bit of bottom fishing on the drift. Never take the bigger kayaks on holiday. Phil
