The waterproof otterbox 3500.
thanks to system x we have been given the chance to test out and review the otterbox 3500 i have asked johnchaos to help me in this review by putting one through its passes out on his kayak and to report back his findings to us all .
i have today done a few simple water tests with the box so here are my first observations and photos
the first thing you notice is the solid feel of this box and the quality design and build the boxes come in a variety of colours some with transparent lids and some with solid colour lids .
this photo shows the size comparison when put on the centre console on the kayak its about the same width
i have tried to show how robust the locking catces are here they are very strong and chunky so should be no problem opening with cold wet hands
you can see here the lenght just right fo a pack of feather rigs in this box i put 40 sets of riggs and about 40 jelly eels you can see its still not full plenty of space for more kit .
please note the rubber seals around the top of the lid
this photo above shows some of the clever design features it has a flat cutout so we can atach straps so if the box fall over the side its still teathered and wont get lost
time to start testing i filled the box of tackle then tossed it in to a bowl of water and it floats so easily retrived if droped overboard .
i then held the box under water for aprox 15 mins to see if any water came in to the tackle i held the box upside down so the lid seals were completly submerged
then on its side for about another 10 mins i wanted to see if any water had got inside to the tackle
not a drop of water went inside this is really a dry box and it worked great in all my tests just the right size very robust i droped it twice and very visable .the most amazing bit is yet to come this box retails at under £20.00 .i could have easily fitted my camera in this box as well i think we have now found the perfect waterproof box for out tackle and all the bits and bobs .
i was so impressed with it i phoned brookbanks and have just ordered mine i was told that they will be instock on the shelf very soon .
i think otter have got it just right with this box and its sure to be a winner .as i have mentioned we have asked johnchaos to road test this box so its on its way to you now john .
