Gosea Angler Sport part2
This is the second part of the Gosea Angler Sport kayak review
The rudder is blade is made from high impact plastic which has fiberglass fibers Incorporated this makes for a strong lightweight blade .
It has a small locking bungee and clip for transport but the really innovative thing here is the control chords they are carbon woven string this makes the whole thing much stronger and smother to use and can not kink this is a superbly crafted rudder.
The rudder in the deployed neutral position acts as a superb skeg giving extra stability to the kayak
The plastic screw hatches have deep easy grip lids making them very easy to use and are placed just forward of the seat so access is also not hindered when on the water.
Each of the screw hatches incorporates a pvc bag with a rigid top ring for storage this makes it easy to get things in and out of them.
The hatches are fitted to the kayak with a rubber gasket making them very watertight
The water bottle holder is quite different to most I have seen it has molded sloping sides to cradle the bottle meaning its much less lightly to fall out.
The kayak was supplied with 2 soft rubber scupper bungs which proved very effective in our tests and easy to remove when not needed
The fittings are made from high impact plastic and are secured with hex type bolts they are all low profile fittings this helps prevent damage while transporting the kayak
Again on the rear bungee retaining straps low profile fittings are used
The underside of the kayak (hull) shows some really nice deep ridge lines these are there to help keep the kayak running straight while in the water
Each of the scuppers has a definitive positive shaping to the underside of them this helps to move water quickly and quietly from the kayak
This is a superb kayak we found it very quick and stable on the water it preformed faultlessly in our tests, it has superb comfort levels and molding quality is second to none there are so many innovative ideas in this kayak from the scupper holes to the carbon control string on the rudder one thing I have not mentioned yet is the inside of this kayak this is different as well inside the hull there are foam support blocks strategically placed to alleviate stress bending and hull distortion this again is the first time I have seen this in a sit on top kayak this all adds to the quality behind the build this kayak is sure to become a firm favorite amongst us kayak anglers the retail of the kayak is £610 and for me that is superb value
