Jarvis Walker Scorpion ZX6500 Baitcaster reel
This is my review of the Scorpion ZX6500 Baitcaster reel
The first thing you will notice is the overall feel of quality with this reel its stylish looks and super soft grip handle together with 3 bearings for smooth operation makes this a superb addition to any bodies collection
This reel does not come in a box it comes in a clear plastic carton this is done so you can see the quality you are buying it comes complete with small spanner and parts list
The reel has a level wind and a finger guard to protect the thumb when retrieving line
We found the level wind really does spread the line evenly across the spool
The handle has a soft rubberised feel to it this is done for two reasons firstly to aid grip with wet hands and secondly to avoid cramping in your thumb over a long session
The star adjustment gear is very easy to use while fishing and won’t trap your fingers while playing a fish the drag system is very smooth and responsive to use
The finger or thumb guard can be quickly released which allows it to swivel upwards this feature allows direct access to the spool just in case you get a tangle and need to sort out your line while fishing
On the edge of the side plate is a ratchet button you can either set the drag ratchet to on or off depending on the type of fishing you are doing this is particularly useful if free spooling a lure or bait it gives you an audible click sound as line is stripped from the reel
Overall this is a superb small form factor reel ideal for bait casting it has a super smooth retrieve action is very easy to use and should give many years of good service just remember to give it a fresh water rinse off after using in the sea .
With its shiny black enamel type finish it looks very stylish and with a retail of £39.99 I think its great value for money and sure to become a firm favourite amongst us kayak anglers
