Galaxy Bison
This is my review of the Galaxy Bison fishing kayak.
The Galaxy Bison is the first of a whole new breed of innovative fishing kayaks it is part sit on top and part sit inside. The kayak is 10ft long and 28 inches wide with a large cockpit cut out of 42 inches it is made from 5mm roto moulded plastic the quality of this moulding / plastics and fittings are of the highest quality available
The kayak has carry handles both front and back both are attached using capsulated brass inserts this makes them very strong and watertight
The kayak has a sleek and stylish appearance this also helps makes it quick on the water and super stable
At the rear there is a tank well with a criss cross bungee system fitted ideal for your tackle box or a crate the tank well has 2 scupper drain holes.
The seating position has wide moulded in seat which has 4 support leg mouldings
In the base these are to distribute weight evenly across the seat area.
Inside the cockpit cut out there is a set of adjustable foot rests
the cockpit has a large 42 inch cut out this makes it very easy to get in and out of the kayak this also alleviates any fear of being trapped in the kayak should it overturn
Once in the seat you notice how much room this kayak offers you and how comfortable it is to the angler when paddling and fishing
At the front of the cockpit is a large tray area ideal for mounting gps or rod mounts this is a shaped tray with secure bungee straps
The idea behind the kayak is with the angler being so close to the bottom of the hull all the anglers weight is kept very low and central in the kayak which in turn increases the centre of gravity and thus making the kayak very easy to paddle and very stable the large cockpit opens up a whole new amount of storage space for tackle ect
The kayak is designed to be used on the still waters and rivers we found it very stable and easy to paddle and the amount of additional room it gives in comparison to a sit on top is quite and eye opener we had no problem getting in and out of the large cockpit opening the galaxy bison is the first of its type in the uk and with a retail of £299 is a very affordable option for inland waters I really liked the layout of the kayak when you are sat in it you have the feel of having loads of room to move about while being very comfortable I feel this is the start of a whole new generation of fishing kayaks
