Galaxy cruz Adding an engine
Having been sent a superb Galaxy kayaks POER34lb electric trolling motor and the fixing bracket for the galaxy Cruz I decided to fit it and give it a try
This is how I did it.
The Galaxy Cruz motor fixing kit comes with everything needed brackets mounting pole and hex stainless steel fixings
The Galaxy Cruz kayak has a moulding just behind the seat to accommodate the fixing kit should you decide to attach a motor.
The motor bracket bar simply just slots in to the recess and is fixed with stainless steel hex bolts these fit in to the capsulated brass nuts on either side of the mounting moulding.
It is important to line up the hole in the mounting bar with the 2 brass inserts in your kayak
Loosely fit the 2 outer bolts just hand tight then fit the centre bolt which should line up with the hole in the nylon end of the mounting bar once all 3 bolts have been located tighten them up tightly
On the other side of the bar there is no centre hole so simply fit and tighten the 2 hex bolts in to the brass inserts
Once everything is tight check that the swivel head on the mounting bar can angle to up and flat positions
While the bar is in the flat position attaching the trolling motor is simply a case of tightening the 2 large locking clamps to the bar
The clever thing about this attachment bar is when you are not using the motor it can be swivelled to allow the motor to lie flat across the kayak this keeps it very neat and out of the way this is especially handy when you are trollying the kayak to the water.
This is a really nice engine mounting kit from Galaxy kayaks it feels very solid and well designed I found it very quick to fit and very well made
