To be very honest Kerny, as long as I am on water, I really don't mind what it is in / on, although as I get that bit older, comfort does play a much bigger part than it used to. Your RIB looks really nice, now that I could fall in love with very easily, good job my pension doesn't go to that level Phil

Phil, pretty fast that then, to be honest I can't make up my mind whether to buy a sib or not, I have been a bit silly as I was out to Majorca and had the opportunity to hire one and didn't. I'm sure if I had I would have bought one by now.I think it is the weight/transportation and setting up process that is slowing my decision.Kerny's RIB looks great.

I know you and I are quite some miles apart with me on the east coast but once I the the engine run in with a few hours on the water, you are welcome to come and give it a blast with me. There is a chance I will bring it over to Anglesey ( think I spelled that wrong ) and if I do, I will let you know for sure. I love the ease and huge multi facet use of the SIB so I need no encouragement and as this one is my 6th, I guess you realize that. I have used them for holidays, picnics afloat, family days, wildlife photography, fishing or just simply being afloat. Unlike a solid boat apart from perhaps a Dory, they have that flexibility afloat that no other boat has with the ability to put them in your car or on the roof depending on the size of boat and of course taking little space in the garage or shed. In the fishing mode, yes it is good to go on the kayak but once you have the ability to reach marks in minutes instead of, well a lot longer in the kayak and the fun of the getting there and back or perhaps shooting off to another mark if the fish just are not present at the first mark is wonderful. I would not want to be without a kayak because I do enjoy the feeling you get when out on the kayak but I don't enjoy paddling as such, just being on the water is what it is all about for me. I have drifted in the past along a sand bank about 1.5 miles on the Cleethorpes coast and just start the engine and back up to the start point very quickly gives loads more fishing time and I confess fighting against the tide with a paddle is not fun for me, getting too bloody old for that. Oh yes the point you made about setting up. If you use a high pressure pump, the boat is up in about 5-6 mins and we also use the pump to deflate them, chuck your gear in and off you go. The time to get ready is far less than you may think, you can even load the boat while the pump is doing the work so not a great deal different to a kayak session and if you take the kitchen sink with you as izzetafox does, it is quicker to load the boat than the kayak, sorry Terry. Here is a link to Higham Marine and a demo getting an air deck SIB ready to go which you might find interesting. www.billhigham.co.uk/airdeck_inflatables.htmlTake a closer look David, you might be surprised.
