I took a few days off from work to have a little break with my girlfriend at her familys caravan... it was inevitable that my kayak would be joining us. I was hoping to get a few launches in but the wind did a good job at ensuring Vicki and I spent some quality time together, I did manage a launch on the Thursday though; I planned to launch an hour before low but on arriving to the slipway which means I only have to struggle through just 10 yards of the rough stuff I found it had been fenced off for some works to the sea defence, I drove towards a set of steps and it was now a case of carrying the kayak 200 yards across rocks and seaweed to the low water mark then walking back and forth to load it up, oh joy. Finally I was afloat, I had a few drifts across the reef casting a selection of lures with nothing to show for my efforts so I anchored up and made myself comfortable. It never fishes great on a neap tide but even still the first hour was painfully slow going but once the water got moving the bites came thick and fast. The dogfish where present in numbers but the odd smoothie was getting through. Most where about 5-6lb but still great sport; This little pup on the last cast took my smoothie total into double figures so I paddled back in happy with myself. I'll be back next week with the spring tides to catch a few Bass

Well done Shaun
You deserve some success after a launch like that ! That's a good number of smoothies, great fishing. Were they all on crab ?
