OK I know its not North Wales but I've been following a thread on Anglers Net. On Sunday, one of their scottish members caught a 175lb Common Skate in 380' of water fishing from a Prowler 13. Look for Lochaline report. Respect

Spanner has been after one of these for some time and put an enormous amount of time and effort into it, can you imagine fishing in water so deep that it takes 20 minutes just to up anchor if anyone deserves it he's the man. SM

What can you say but congratulations to Spanner- good job he had organised some help nearby to land the Skate- i would like to see someone land it for real in a kayak. Starvin says- 'can you imagine'! - i agree.
Can you imagine dropping a bait from a kayak 200-300'. Most dont have anchor line to fish these depths. Spanner was trophy hunting and he has done it- top marks and Respect!- for the rest of us - we fish on and maybe wewill hook into a trophy one day.
(As an aside at a recent meet at Cemlyn Bay there is deep water in the area within easy paddle reach around the Harry Furlong Rocks- you dont know what specimens await there). - Good Luck.
