Hi all, I just found out some of the detail of this event on Facebook, I wonder if this forum can be used to bring us more information?

[br Doh, silly old me :-) ....of course! It'd be daft for the only North Wales kayak forum to be involved in the only North Wales kayak meet wouldn't it...... :-) Fancy me disturbing the peace on here with a thread about kayak anglers meeting up...... Martin

Googled it yesterday, nothing found. No one has approached us or mentioned it. No idea who is organising it. Steve. Ps. Hi Martin, sarcasm doesn't seem to be one of your best attributes

Martin Sorry for disturbing the peace, but i see nothing wrong with Martins post. Whats the point of a fishing forum that is reluctant to get involved in potential fishing meets. Enthusiasm yes, Sarcasm NO!!!

Gentlemen there is nothing wrong with having a meet but for newer members who are nor aware of past problems, there is an issue. You have to consider that if a meet takes place in the name of NWKF or is seen to be organized by NWKF, then Zebra is liable, as the owner of NWKF for any claims that may arise from an incident and along with that worry, event insurance is required which is NOT a cheap issue believe me. It is also quite likely that the event insurance will require rescue cover which means we will require either properly rigged SIBS / RIBS of our own to be not fishing but there as rescue or we arrange for the RNLI to be there which means a contribution to the charity.
None of these things are free and all take time, effort and money to cover all bases. I know this because I used to be involved albeit on a low key basis but nevertheless I know the hassle with the Flamborough meet and all the work that was needed.
Your best bet, unless Terry wants to go to such lengths and you all want to pay for the costs involved, is to PM the various members privately to arrange a meet or to simply say on the forum that you are going to a certain venue, does anyone want to join you and state that it is NOT a NWKF meet.
I am sorry to sound such a stick in the mud but these things are not so straight forward.
Good luck to all.
Phil

Perfect reply Phil. This is why you normally only see 'proper' events widely advertised. They have sponsors and entry fees that will cover all expenses. Casual meets must be exactly that and not organise by the forum although the forum can, as Phil says, be used to tell folks where you are going and to invite others to share the day. Sadly the HSA and event liability has cramped everyone's style. Terry
