At long last my new sib Volaire 390 in red has arrived in at Sutton Coldfield and due to desperation ,deliberation and delegation. It's going to be sent in the post and hopefully arrive next Wednesday ! Would have been great to meet Terry, but he was so busy and wouldn't be there. Along with fuel cost and time, the journey would have been an early start and an all day'er. No doubt I will be posting photos soon Live for today, as tomorrow hasn't been touched yet!

It is a pity that they are quite a distance for you Alan as I have been there and Terry is a cracking bloke to deal with. I KNOW you will enjoy the new Excel having had the 330 myself (on here somewhere), quality kit for sure. A bit more weight than the one I had so you better watch your back my friend. My old boat:- zebrakayak.proboards.com/thread/6601/new-boatEnjoy it Alan. Phil

When opening the box be careful not to puncture the boat ! Also large boxes are held together by large staples !! Do a visual first and don't rake your hands round the box unless you got a good pair of gloves. Tilt the box on its end get some assistance if you need to . What I did then was let the packed boat down to the floor, checking for staples as I lowered it. Get rid of the box and proceed to unwrap and roll out, try not to lean or put excessive weight on it. As there could be a staple loose within. If opening outside lay an appropriate floor/ground sheet first to protect it. Quality is looking good so far, and the material feels quite heavy duty !

The heavy duty feel to the quality of this SIB is so different to what i've owned in the past. It really looks the part and with the additional features, i've watched the Fire Rescue training with their boats and it looks very similar. Maybe they're made by the same company ? Someone somewhere may have an answer to this question

One of the boat's features is the Safety Pressure Release Valve, this avoids over-pressurising especially in hot conditions. Also my favourite addition is the bow roller, every SIB should have one ! The paynter fitted just below the bow, and to the stern the sliding drain valve at the transom. Inflating was quick using the mains powered pump, then manually bring to correct pressure using the pump fitted with gauge provided in the kit.

The ribbed floor reminds me of an airbed or li-lo which I quite happily surfed on in the Med', and the li-lo was a very thin see through pvc material. This floor has a solid feel to it and formed the hull shape when fully inflated. I will be placing foam mats down as I intend hopefully to keep the boat for the 5yr guarantee period.
