Hi Steve, A modular central console is certainly something we have considered. However the technical side of ensuring the hull remains stiff, whilst creating a usable system, and without adding a fortune to the retail price becomes quite a challenge...... That said we do love a challenge so watch this space, you never know what will happen in the future For this boat we have paired down the size of the central console to give maximum space in the cockpit for additional storage, whilst retaining enough space on the console (at suitable reaching distance) to allow easy use of fish finders, GPS units, and rod holders.

Hi Steve,
We have spent a lot of time considering colours for the new range, and have consulted with numerous individuals and organisations regarding colour visibility (primarily at sea)
The end results of this are the following colours for the fishing versions:
+ vivid yellow (some people call it acid yellow - it's very bright) + burnt orange + Lime green (which is actually produced using a special "environmentally balanced" plastic - more on this at a later date)

Thanks a lot Steve. Look forward to you getting on the Trent.
Re the colours..... They will be great for the salties...good visibility, and the fun yakkers. But I would urge you to consider at least one subdued green or brown for the coarse brigade. I chose mango as I had to have one colour for all my activities but some guys who will only be on lakes and rivers might prefer to be a little more discreet. I think a significant portion of the 'future' yak fishing sector will be from coarse anglers, at least going by the interest I have received locally. If you look at the coarse clothing market in the likes of Decathalon they are selling a hell of a lot of camo and green garments. Most would not consider purchasing such gaudy colours. Stealth afterall is not quite as critical in sea angling as it is in coarse angling.
Great to see your commitment...being here on a bank holiday weekend. But be aware most of the yakking fraternity are a loyal bunch who appreciate customer support from suppliers and often reward them with their orders. So in that respect you are definitely scoring high marks by being here. Well done. It is refreshing to see the process of launching a new yak from this stage and to be able to discuss design with the people that matter.
Happy Easter mate Terry

Hi Terry, I forgot to add to the bottom of that post that we thought the boat may make a good Course fishing boat due to it's length, and for that reason we may consider offering an "inland camo" colour, and another "quieter" solid colour. The premium touring version will come in graphite gray in addition to the three bright colours. I have kept this colour out of the fishing range due to the safety implications of using it on the open sea, but again your point is noted Happy Easter to you too, I'm off to finish the seat on the plug!

That's reassuring on the coarse option, I would hate to see you miss and opportunity. Seat? Sorry Steve another question. Is the seat going to be a two piece as in the other Teksport models of a proper one like other brands? Good to see I am not the only one working on Easter Sunday...and I bet like me there is no 'Premium Rate' wages anywhere in sight .

Hi Terry, I actually meant the seat pan in the boat.......... But rest assured we are developing completely new outfitting for the new range. We have even developed new deck line fittings, and a new bespoke handle system... No definitely no overtime for me, my boss is stingy with overtime payments (mostly because he's me )

Steve sorry to keep interrupting your very important development but.....I am bored at work and things keep occurring to me. Steve said there were to be three hatches, I assume one will be the big bow hatch and then two 8" ( or thereabouts) round hatches??? What type of open/closing system will you be using on the round ones? I have a Prowler with the screw thread on the round hatch and I hate it!! As soon as it sees any sand the thread gets clogged and either jams so I cannot het my bits out or leaks because the seal is not secure. It is a pain to keep clean. I have not tried those with the 'T' clips as here www.northwaleskayakfishing.co.uk/id28.htmlI believe you can get the rounds hatches in the same style. I trust others will comment on their experiences.

Hatches:
Hi Terry, please don't apologise - It's what I'm here for!
The hatches we will be using on the top spec model are as follows:
+ The forward hatch is a 43 x 32 cm rubber hatch. + The cockpit hatch is an 8" hatch + The hatch on the rear turret is a 6" hatch.
We did look at the T-bar style hatches, as we really liked the style and the concept of a twist lock style mechanism, but the completely honest answer is we could not find a supply source at a viable cost level for production, so instead we have sourced a high quality round hatch - it does have a screw thread, but this is very course so should minimise issues with sand "clogging" and also has a replaceable 'o'ring, so when the inevitable happens, you can simply replace and maintain your watertight seal!
Hope this helps,
Steve
