Tim-
I've no doubt Sarge will sort you out on this one but as extra info and if he is unavailable right now because he and his mates are trying to get through the latest gale.
This is the person who is trying to co-ordinate this course - and no doubt will answer your questions and make the booking. I am not sure when the course is and i have emailed Jude to ask those very questions.
Spud has obviously booked his spot and so have i by email- just waiting for some final info. Judes emailaddress follows. Let us know if you book in.

Spud has just confirmed that the course is on the 28th of Jan. No doubt we will get final confirmation of this during this week.
There are now several of our members planning to attend this course and would be good see even more there for this reason.
Kayak Angling is relatively new to Britain, the safety equipment available for use on kayaks is probably even newer. The NWKF forum has always aimed for a high standard of safety and professionalism in our sport-a significant part of that is the use of the waterproof VHF radio.
The Law requires VHF radio users to carry a certificate confirming our radio use competence. The course available to achieve this certificate which is next weekend still has spaces on it- if you would like to join us and attend please email

Great day, with a big thanks to Ken Oakes the RYA instructor. Believe it or not I passed even though it was an awful lot of information to take in for one day. I strongly recommend everyone with a VHF attend a RYA course and learn the correct procedure for that time you may have to use it to summon help. Thanks to George, Spud, Sarge and Kickingk for being such supportive company. Cheers Lads ;D P.S it was also a good laugh, especially the request for ice from RMS Titanic ;D ;D Tim

Would recommend this course to everyone. I wasn't really in the mood for it after the operation but Ken Oakes (Instructor) was spot on and many thanks to Tim, Spud, George and Sarge for an entertaining afternoon - From the Titanic to a sparkling Pink Pedalo stuck under Runcorn bridge!! Over (& Out) and who was that Roger fella everyone was talking about?? Time to surf the web for that new VHF Radio!!
