making the mahee fishy
The mahee is one of those kayaks that is ready to use straight out of the box it needs no modifications but we decided to do some to add to the experience of fishing from the mahee ,
The mahee in all its glory with 2 high back sport seats added for comfort
The first change was the rear bungee this is a much more secure arrangement crossing the bungee gives more points of contact on what ever you put under it
A forward bungee was also added and 2 anchor points being pad eyes this allows the front person a place to tuck things under and when the kayak is being used solo it’s a good place to tuck your paddle blade under while drift fishing
An additional anchor point pad eye was added to the front console this is really useful for the front person to be able to attach things like vhf radio waterproof phone box ect
To the rear console was added 4 anchor points pad eyes this allows me to attach my new tackle box and vhf radio ect a railblazer rod mount and rod extender allows me some additional options regards rod rests the moulded cut out makes this a superb working area for fishing
A stainless steel bar is added to the seat cleat cut out to attach the anchor trolley
This keeps everything nice and beat
A zig zag cleat is also added to the inside of the cockpit just by the thigh area of the cockpit this is used to lock the anchor and anchor trolley when anchoring
"]
The addition of the high back sports seats with the added rear fishing pack is really useful and a great place to store your first aid kit and flares
A small custom tackle box I made fits right in place and secured using bunge and hooks which lock I to 2 pad eyes
With all the changes the rear cockpit is a superb working area with everything at hand ready to work
The front cockpit with its ram mount and anchor point is very comfortable for the angler specially when you add the sports seat
This kayak is stunning and attracts the crowds we had literally only just unloaded the kayak from the roof rack and we had a father and son rushing over to inspect it and get all the info on it these 2 people are pike anglers they were looking for a tandem kayak and followed us down to the road to have a look the ever helpful buddy obliged with a full demo and impromptu safety talk but they did go away well informed
